The Soul of Civility: A Book Event with Alexandra Hudson
March 19, 2024 @ 12:00 pm
In our polarized age, it can be difficult to talk about the most consequential topics even with those closest to us. In her new book, The Soul of Civility: Timeless Principles to Heal Society and Ourselves, Civic Renaissance founder Alexandra Hudson explores what it takes to build a culture of civility. Drawing on various philosophical traditions, Ms. Hudson differentiates between politeness and a true respect for human dignity, demonstrating through historical examples how we can be more civil in our individual lives, communities, and broader political culture. Please join AEI’s Adam J. White and Ms. Hudson for a discussion of how civility can help us transcend our important differences and flourish amid them. Submit questions to Sophie.Rizzieri@aei.org or on Twitter with #AEISoulofCivility. 10:00 a.m.Introduction:Adam J.
