An allied approach to de-risking the tech supply chain

June 6, 2024 @ 12:00 pm

Please join the Atlantic Council’s Global China Hub on Thursday, June 6, at 9:00 a.m. E.T. for a hybrid conversation on allied solutions to de-risking tech supply chains from Chinese investment.

Evolving policy conversations in the US, Europe, and elsewhere regarding risks to critical supply chains underscore mounting concerns about China’s economic activities worldwide. However, there are differing perceptions between public and private actors in the US as well as allied and partner countries on the nature of such risks and the coercive potential of these economic activities. These differences have inhibited the formulation of a coherent narrative that would be conducive to an allied approach to de-risk tech supply chains.

This public event aims to spur collective action between the United States and government and private sector partners in Europe and the Indo-Pacific.

The event is a continuation of the Global China Hub’s work on tech competition and China’s drive to dominate emerging technologies and relevant supply chains, such as “Financing mechanisms underpinning China’s tech self-reliance,” “Competition and cooperation: Debating a transatlantic de-risking strategy on China,” and “United States – China semiconductor standoff: A supply chain under stress.”
